I would not worry about GeneStar Testing for now. Hereford is a good breed and provides a great tool for concentrating a line and a terminal crossbreeding. There is great variability in GeneStar within breeds. I would not discard Herefords because of the performance in that test. I would discard first (and keep) based on adaptation and finishing performance (as line or crossbred steers). After that selection for grass feeding, then we could think about the test. My suggestion is then, use GeneSTAR within the breed first and test your genetics. Then, you may make conclusions over the breed, in general.
