Your suggestions are great. I would have never have thought of using wheat midling as a supplement. Most are using citrus or beet pulp for the energy but it is a very costly proposition. I guess the point here is, if you HAVE to harvest a forage, make sure the energy is the highest it can be. In my opinion and experiences, just by the mere fact of getting our cattle smaller (Frame 4) the 1.2 - 1.8 ADG should become easier. Its the shrinking of the cattle that quickly that is the hard part. I also think once the more people start paying closer attention to their soil health (Thats a whole other discussion) things will start to improve at a quicker pace.
